Automatic allocation of inventory to oldest backorders

A feature where as inventory is received and posted to GP, this inventory then automatically allocates to sales documents with the oldest doc dates. Right now, everything is a manual process to allocate product to sales docs with backordered items.

    Rebecca,

    There isn't a great way to automate this process, but there are a couple of options to make it easier.  One is to use batch processing after posting receipts which will allow you to allocate based on how you sort the documents on the screen.  The other option would be to use something like Automation Agent, which wouldn't be automatic per se, but you could have it run on a schedule (every 30 mins for example) to check for available inventory and allocate.

    Jacob, thanks for the quick response!  Is automation agent able to also take into account an order of operations where oldest orders are allocated first in the example of a 30 min schedule?

    Rebecca,

    I would think so, but I'd have to defer to one of the developers to answer that for certain.  But we could essentially use Automation Agent to automate the batch processing piece that I mentioned previously and have it sort docs based on oldest date first.

    Yes Automation Agent could do that with a script.
