Penny Rounding

In Canada we have discontinued the penny.  When paying cash for a transaction, the total is now rounded to the nearest nickel.  It would be great if salespad had a setting that you could have the payment rounded to the nearest nickel automatically when the payment method is CASH as credit card and checks are still processed at the value to the penny.  All of your Canadian customers would find great value with this as we are all have come up with time consuming work arounds.

Ahh, gotcha.  Thanks for the clarification.

This is just for customers paying cash, but not at the line item level - it is on the total after tax.  Let's say they were buying 2 items at $1.00 each  - after our tax (5% and 8%) the total is $2.26.  Because there are no pennies the customer can pay $2.25.  Currently we have an item called 'penny rounding' and we manually add/remove the quantity of that item to make the total after tax the correct amount.

Is this only for customers paying by cash?  If not, you can setup price level rounding within GP to always round up to the nearest nickle.

We wrote a script in our system that on certain item numbers, the price is rounded up to .x9.   We hijacked an inventory UDF field to determine whether an item rounded up to .x9  or not.  If a customer will pay 2.44 for something, they will pay 2.49 for something.  Why leave the nickle on the table.  It has worked great for us.  I'm sure something to round to the nearest nickle would work for you as well.
